New Fishing and Boating Products for 2003
Don't you love this time of the year, Christmas is just around the corner and most of the fishing and boating companies have recently introduced their new lines of product.
This can also be a frustrating time. I know that I am a lot like some of you, you have every lure and piece of tackle imaginable. Then the tackle guys come out with something new and we are looking for more space in our already full garages.
What is the wife or husband going to day when we come home with another 100 pounds of "FISHING STUFF"? Well. I know what I say, darling, I just had to have it, this old stuff just doesn't work like the new stuff and what ever other excuse that I can think of at the time.
Let's take a look at some of this new STUFF.
MirrOlure has come out with a new lure, The He Dog.
MirrOlure® He Dog"
Molded from space age plastic media the He Dog" features twin sonic fish calling rattles. She emits a high frequency sound which enrages game fish into monstrous strikes. Great walk-the-dog action which anyone can master. Higher buoyancy and sound frequency. Both freshwater and saltwater game fish find this lure irresistible.

I have used this lure and the noise it makes can be heard from a long way and if I can hear it, it must drive the fish crazy. In addition to this lure working great on red, trout, jacks, and snook, I bet it would be great on largemouth bass in low light conditions.
You can check out all of the fine MirrOlure products at www.mirrolure.com.
Daiichi Hooks has come out with several new hook designs. The hook that all of you live bait offshore folks will want to try is the Sabiki rig. It comes in blood red color, several sizes and works better than the gold hooks that we all have used for so many years.

So far, I have caught many types of live bait and seabass, vermilion snapper and a few more. Check them out at www.daiichihooks.com.
Daiichi has also come out with some new hook designs.

This is just a few of the superb hooks that Daiichi offers for the serious fisherman. Daiichi is the hook of choice for this angler.

Power Pro braided line has come out with two new sizes, fifteen and eight pound test. This line has been on my reels for going on four years now and it is by far superior to any other braided line that I have fished. The major pluses with this line are: you can feel everything, like the fish has just hit the rod tip. There is no stretch, so your hooks sets are powerful. The line is so thin, you can get hundreds of yards on the same reel that would hold less than a hundred yards of monofilament in the same test. You can leave it on the spool forever. This means fewer line changes. It cast a mile, you will be able to cast farther with this than mono of the same test. The line comes in white, yellow and green. Check out this fine product at www.powerpro.com.

MotorGuide has continued with their superior trolling motor products, introducing the new ES series.
Sometimes fishing requires greater flexibility than what traditional foot-controlled motors allow. Flexibility is what Tour ES is all about. Tour ES captures the heel/toe functionality and steering speed of a cable-controlled motor, without the torque. And with the optional 16' soft-wire extension cable you can maintain control, even from the back of the boat
" NEW 2-part, double-dipped conformal acrylic coating on all electronic boards and components.
" Servo Positioning Steering captures heal/toe functionality and steering speed of a cable-controlled motor.

Now that you have a good idea of some of the new stuff that is out there for this year, open that wallet and take out the Visa card. I don't know about you, but the reason that I work, is so I can have the latest and greatest NEW stuff that comes out. As you all know, the old stuff is good but to catch the big ones you need some of this new stuff. THAT'S MY STORY and I am sticking with it.
The jetties are starting to happen for sheepshead and a few black drum, the sounds and inlets are still producing spanish mackerel, blues, jacks and a few pompano. The creeks are alive with trout and good numbers of small reds. There are still a few of the poor mans tarpon around. I also hear the specks (crappie) are starting to happen in Crescent and other lakes in that area. The offshore action is starting for the fall and winter bite of bottom fish. I hope to get out soon and shoot a snapper show.
Weather permitting, I am going to a new bass fishing place this week and should get a good show.
Christmas is just around the corner and a gift certificate for a day with Capt. Jim might make a good present for someone. They start at only $225. I accept Visa or MasterCard
